On the Needles

Okay lets see, today is Tuesday right? The holiday was Sunday and it was 2 days ago. Oh darn, I'm totally discombobulated - today is Friday. Having the holiday in the middle of the week just doesn't seem right. It was like there were two Mondays in a 7 day span and that is never a good thing.

Well I did get a bit of knitting done - ta dah!!! Another pair of self-striping socks!

I still love this DROPS Fabel yarn but I was a tad annoyed by this last skein. I found 2 knots in and somewhere after the second knot I realized that the sequence of the strips changed. I purposely rewound the 2nd skein so the stripes would not match - I want socks that are fraternal not identical. So I knit from the cuff down and you can see that the stripe sequence is reversed on the leg but somewhere after the heel turn as I was heading for the toe, the stripe sequence reverted to the original pattern. That means if you were planning on identical socks you wouldn't have matched up and if you wanted fraternal socks you don't get that either. Grrrrrr! You can see that while it annoyed me it didn't bother me enough to unknit and "fix" it. I'm not going to sweat it...although in this 100 degree weather I'm sweating everything else!

I hope to get back on track with life next week. This week I spent one afternoon babysitting my son's new house for an inspection - it passed. And another afternoon helping him get his financing nailed down -- he's got the loan. So now it is up to the bank to do their thing and he can close the end of the month. I am so proud and excited for him. Our real estate agent who we just met with this house. complimented him to me several times and it makes a mother's heart happy! Of course I think he's a great kid but it is nice when others tell you that.

I did get a bit of sewing done yesterday and I finished up Willie's Quaker Sampler on the 4th of July. I'm happy to be liberated from this big project and now to move on to another. I think I'm going to pick back up my Blackbird Designs Anniversaries of the Heart. I told myself I'd finish that one this year and the year is half over and I still have quite a ways to go.

Hope you are staying cool! The weather guys are "promising" rain for Sunday afternoon. I hope they are right but I'll believe it when I see it!

Happy stitching-
carol fun

  3. Fraternal twins--I love it!! I had some yarn where the first ball was wound one way and the second the other. I was trying to make identical twins and kept unwinding and unwinding until I finally figured out what was going on. Grrr... I should have settled for fraternal--except I didn't think of that. :-) Love your socks!

  5. Congrats on finishing the sampler. That is quite an accomplishment. I love striped socks but I am not going to learn to knit again. We missed you tonight at Keepsakes but it was HOT. We were all sweating and shorts were sticking to the folding chairs, yuck.
