Well I've spent a ton of time watching March Madness and I am enjoying it.I'm getting lots of cross stitching done. Most of my underdog picks have fallen, except for Butler. Hope they can get even further in the tourney.
Today is another sampler I did years ago - 1995 to be exact. It is by Eileen Bennett and called Antiqued Sampler. Lake Stitcher showed this chart on her blog the other day.
I liked the specialty stitches in this piece. I did needlepoint before I did cross stitch and I always enjoyed the dimensional specialty stitches.
My favorite part of this piece is the verse. "Love me, Love my Samplers". That perfectly sums up my feelings about my many samplers. Certain members of my family have commented that it looks like we don't know our ABC's in this house but those snarky comment don't deter me from stitching more samplers. And on that note I'm off to watch some more basketball and put some more stitches in my BBD piece.
Happy stitching-
carol fun
Lovely work. Isn't basketball wonderful for a little bit of stitching!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Sampler Carol. I love the verse too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Love the colors and the saying!
ReplyDeleteWonderful - it certainly has stood the test of time - I too love the bargello-like watermelon colored stitches!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sampler...and as for those certain members of your family who think you don't know the alphabet..pbbbtttt. :) Thanks for sharing all your beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteLove me, love my samplers = Yes. I'll never tire of them, but that's my Typography Love.
ReplyDeleteSummer Basket is calling tome about spring--Clover is such a great thread. :)
Love your new quilt! Fig Tree is only the most awesome thing I've ever seen! I SOOOO want to make her Papillon quilt...EXACTLY like the cover of the pattern, lol. It doesn't matter that I've only every quited a fabric basket...and had to rip it out. This week, basket, next week, Fig Tree quilt! Now, I just need to find a jelly roll of patisserie. heh.
Love your Eileen Bennett sampler. Her pieces are just timeless and yours is beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteMy alma mater is headed to the Sweet 16 so I'm really excited. Last time we went was in '93! Enjoy watching the basketball and stitching.
