All the print fabrics are from several different Anna Marie Horner collections. I love the large scale of these prints and their retro hippie vibe!
This is the 3rd time I've made a quilt with this Giant Vintage Star pattern developed by Jeni Baker of In Color Order. You can find her tutorial for it here ... and my thoughts on the pattern and how I did it here. (If you check my blog next week you'll see the Halloween version I've done with this pattern and I've got the fabrics for a Christmas version waiting on my cutting table... I am so smitten with this pattern!)
When I made this top I had lots of fat quarters and after I cut a giant triangle from each of them I didn't have a lot of fabric left over for a border, so my solution was to improv piece the bits and bobs I had together, to stretch it and make it work.
My long arm quilter frosted this quilt with a large paisley panto in a variegated thread and it nicely fills those negative spaces.
I'm so happy happy happy with how this looks in my bedroom. The ochre gold background coordinates with my buffalo check drapes and the blues play well with the walls.
Do take some time and go over and peruse the wonderful quilts in the Blogger's Quilt Festival... a feast for the eyes and so much inspiration.
happy stitching-

ReplyDeleteI really like Anna Marie Horners fabrics and love your quilt! The cheddar background really brings out the colors in the star. Beautiful.

ReplyDeleteEvery time you show a picture of one of these, I think "I really want to make one of these" but then never get it done. I MUST make one of these..they're so pretty!
