Ordinary stuff... on a Slow Sunday...

Hello all - first off I want to thank each and every one of you who come and read my ramblings each week... this blog has become a diary of my life... and for the most part not a lot happens...but as I get older, the more I like that ... I'm not into surprises or drama ... I just want to be able to stitch and sew and knit and do crafty stuff and read and work in my garden ... oh and go out to eat... I'm really into going out to eat!! LOL

And this past week that is just what I did... I started off the week, when it was waaaay too hot, working out in my yard... I planted 21 1 gallon perennials... they were bargain priced at a local garden center that is the Big Lots of plants... you never know what they are going to have but it will be a good price. I got some shasta daisies and some day lilies and some pestemon and some sedum... fingers crossed they settle in and bloom...  I planted about 100 dahlia tubers...  I had no idea I ordered that many back in January until I opened the box... it was a BIG box... but I LOVE dahlias and they were easy to plant in the raised bed... and I planted some more seeds and I did more clean up... and after a several  hours of that  on two different days, I was too pooped to do anything more than sit and mindlessly look at things on my computer.

I did do a little stitching on the stocking... plugging away at it... and I did a bit more cross stitch...this is Flag Folk by Not Forgotten Farm...

I  LOVE that big vine... want this done for July... lots more to stitch...

As for sewing I got all the block sewn together in rows for that flag quilt from the County Seat quilt book ... but I still need to put the last 3  rows together and get borders on it... and that's another thing I want done before July.

I did a few more block for the High Tide Remix pattern with the Tiny Treaters fabric...

I have all 20 blocks cut out but I'm not thrilled with what I think will be the layout... lots of black and that orange is kinda in your face... but I will admit it looks better in this picture now that I look at it from a distance... the blocks are super easy to sew... less time to sew than to cut out I think... maybe I'll get back to them this week.

I want to re-do the seasonal decor in my living room... put away the tulips and some of the birds and get out some of my garden cross stitch... I started rearranging some stuff last night... found a quilt that will fit on the wall of the living room... realized I have to quit making big quilts and focus on smaller ones... but they always seem to get away from me... I sewed some 2.5" squares together to make a table runner for the white shelf unit in the living room...

still needs a border at each end and to be quilted and bound... every square is a different tone on tone yellow and I LOVE the white print with the straight pins...

it is a Lori Holt fabric called Pin Drop... the pins are a silver metallic... too cute!!

I did get the binding on one of the  3 quilts I got back from Quilting by David this week and I put together a  small patriotic display down in my sewing studio...

The quilt is the flag pattern from Amy Smart... it is free and you can see it here... I'm glad I was lazy and didn't put borders on this as it wouldn't have fit on this wall... again I need to remind myself that not every quilt has to be bed sized...

The banner came from Hobby Lobby ... the cross stitch is Grand Olde Flag by Brenda Gervais... knickknacks are from here and there... I think the red spools came from the clearance at Joanns after Christmas... I knew that someday I'd have a place for them...

And I love this quilting panto... it is called Mike's Swoosh...

Oh, the washer and dryer were delivered and set up without a hitch... the delivery guy measured the doorways before they took the appliances off of the truck to be sure they would fit... he had obviously delivered stuff to older houses before... they do have more bells and whistles than the vintage ones but my son and I figured out some basic settings that we can use for 99.99% of all of the loads of laundry ... actually my son does the laundry ... and he likes things simple and consistent... he's happy with the new machines so that makes me happy and he did several loads this week... life is good!!

Don't have any big plans for the upcoming week... one doctor appt for me... a semi-annual check up ... already did the blood work and got the results ... my doctor emailed and said it all looked great so no changes to the 2 pills I take... not sure how much we have to discuss but I'll show up...

The weather last week swung from one extreme to another... it was 90 degrees when I was out working in the yard... then it got rainy for a couple of days and Saturday was down right cold with a high of only 55... upcoming week looks nice... temps in the 70's... good weather to sit out on the sunroom porch and stitch... the cicadas haven't been too bad so far... now they are incredibly noisy in the morning but quiet down as the day goes on... I haven't been bothered when I was out working... saw some shells here and there but they weren't buzzing my face so I'm thankful for that... I figure we still have about 5-6 weeks of them... I shall be glad when they depart.

And I'll leave you with a picture of my pyramid of petunias... it is looking good...

I'll link up with Kathy's Quilts today... I always enjoy seeing what others are doing...

As for Memorial Day tomorrow... for those who have passed we must Remember their service, Honor their sacrifice and Treasure our Freedom... this is the land of the free because of the brave...

God Bless America!!

Lack of focus on a Slow Sunday...

Hello - well this last week has definitely lacked focus... I have flitted from one project to another every single day.. gardening, sewing, cross stitch, needlepoint, shopping... I have engaged in all of these pursuits and haven't finished a single project in any area... so get ready to see lots of bits and pieces of this and that... LOL

The weather was more July than May... upper 80s... and I had lots of things to do in the yard... clean up of daffodils and planting a couple more flats of annuals and trying to get some seeds started... I put in two long days but I still have some 1 gallon perennials to plant... and  I haven't gotten a single new dahlia in the ground... however a bunch of dahlias that I didn't dig up last Fall have been going gangbusters... almost a foot tall... and I went through all the tubers I dug up and over-wintered to find  only about 1/3 of them survived... my plan for the end of this year is I'm not digging up a single tuber and lets see what happens... I'm even going to leave them in my raised bed... if they come back great, if they don't... well I always buy new tubers anyway... cue Doris Day... Que sera sera ... whatever will be will be...

I do have some pretty blooms right now... my peony bush which was a gift from a neighbor looks gorgeous... blooms as big as a softball... and I love that light pink color...

And speaking of pink... this is my climbing David Austin rose... I think this is the 3rd or 4th year I've had it and it has never looked better... I forget what variety it is... oh wait ... I checked back in the blog and the name of the rose is Gertrude Jekyll and I planted it in 2017... 4 years ago... so my memory isn't totally gone...LOL

And that rose bush that got pruned by the deer... it has recovered and it looks gorgeous... it is a Proven Winner rose called At Last...

And as for the deer ....I found  this little guy laying near my patio this morning... Mom  came back later and moved him to the back corner of my neighbor's yard... so cute... but I just know he'll grow up to eat my roses...

As for stitching... I put a couple of evenings into the needlepoint stocking... lots  more green for the tree... and for cross stitch I did a little bit more on Flag Folk... got half of the lady done... was too tired both evenings after working in the yard to do much of anything...

On the sewing front I bounced around and around and around... I have 4 rows sewn together... the fifth row and the sashing are sitting on that step ladder ...  I got bored....

So I decided to play with an American Jane Honeybun... my friend recently finished a quilt using the pattern from a QAL last Fall... you can see her quilt here... you can see the pattern instructions here... and you can see examples of the blocks here on IG... I stitched up 5 blocks...

look closely at that bottom one... I mis-cut it and had to improvise... I added in similar fabrics from my stash...so far it is my favorite block... may do more that way...

But got sidetracked by a trip to my LQS Homegrown, Homesewn... picked up a FQ bundle of the new Riley Blake  line from Jill Howarth called Tiny Treaters... you can see all the fabrics here...and I decided to use the pattern High Tide Remix by Woodberry Way which you can see here... and I picked up a couple of tone on tone fabrics to add to the bundle....

The graphics for this collection are so cute and I'm intrigued by the palette... the orange is a coral-y orange... the blue is a deep turquoise ... and the gray is more blue than gray (I like that a lot...not a fan of gray) and the kicker is there is one pink fabric in the collection... I don't know if I've ever seen a pink Halloween fabric before but I like it a lot... but since there was only one pink I wanted it to show up more and I got that pink tone on tone to add some punch... the blocks are  BIG... 16" finished and I sewed up 3 in short order...

Grrr...The color is off here... go look at the link of the fabrics for a true idea of the colors... that blue is looking navy here and it actually a deep turquoise and like I said that orange is more of a coral and that pink is PINK not rose... anyway in real life that look great... should be a quick top to put together and it doesn't have borders... oh how I love a quilt without borders!!!

As for shopping... my dryer stopped working on  Tuesday... I called a repair guy who came on Wednesday and the cost to fix it was 50% of the cost of a new dryer... I don't know exactly how old the dryer is but it came with the house and nothing in the house was new when I bought it ...and the washer also came with the house and it is of an undetermined age... and neither machine matched the other although that wasn't important to me, but it just told me that one or other had bitten the dust at some time in the past... so on Thursday I went shopping for a new washer and a dryer ... I know if I only bought the dryer my luck would be that  the washer would die in about 2 more weeks. I wasn't really picky about the brand, although I prefer Maytag (that what the ancient machines in the basement were ) I just wanted something that could be delivered ASAP... turned out a Maytag washer and dryer were in stock and are to be delivered today... fingers crossed that all goes well... it won't be easy getting the old machines out and the new machines in and I worry that connecting up new equipment could go awry...old houses are not always compatible with new technology... I've found that out numerous times with this house... the machines I purchased aren't the fancy new kind ...not a lot of bells and whistles... so I hope it will work out.

So that was my week... the upcoming week doesn't look real busy... dinner Monday night with friends... babysitting on Tuesday and that's all that's on the calendar... temperatures are suppose to be in the 70's by Wednesday... much nicer in my opinion and there is a chance of rain... we could use some rain... I've had to water every night ... so maybe I'll get some more stitching and sewing done ... I've been in a sewing mood as you can tell by my starting TWO new quilt projects... and I have two quilts back from the longarmer waiting to be bound... I never lack for things to do ... and I'm happy for that...

I'll link up with Kathy's Quilts today as I wait for my appliance delivery... they gave me a 4 hour time window... 9:30 am till 1:30 pm... what do you want to bet I'll be up and dressed bright and early and they'll show up after lunch?  Such is life...

Lots of things only part way done, but feeling so upbeat on a Slow Sunday...

Hello all ... well it was certainly a busy week... a couple of appointments and some babysitting and dinner with friends and working in the yard and a bit of sewing and a bit of stitching... and not a single project is complete... but I'm feeling upbeat about life... the weather has turned more Spring like and there are 80's in this week's forecast and the news that mask mandates have been lifted has me smiling from ear to ear... AND NOW YOU CAN SEE ME SMILE!!!   and I can see everyone else smile... I didn't know how demoralizing it was going to be when masks were on everyone's faces... and now we need to get them off of kids faces... human beings were not meant to live this way... and with that I'll climb down off my soap box.

Like I said... I've putzed around with several projects and I'll show a couple of pics of what I have gotten down. For Mother's Day I always give myself the gift of starting a new cross stitch project no matter how many I already have started... cause starting a new project is always FUN FUN FUN!!! and Fun is in my name... literally it is... my last name starts with the letters F U N...

My pick this year was Flag Folk by Notforgotten Farm... I've seen lots of versions of this ... mostly in prim tones and you know I like prim but I like it a bit brighter... so I painted some 32 ct linen with lemon yellow and a blue (that I can't remember) Rit dyes... and I'm using the mostly called for DMC colors except for the red, white and blue... I've gone with 918, 803 and Blanc... here's where I am at the moment...

And keeping with a patriotic theme I started a quilt top from the new book County Seat Quilts: 12 Classic Patterns with Looks that Last... OMG... I LOVE this book... now all of the quilts are done in more prim reproduction fabrics but I can see such possibilities in the patterns... here's what the pattern looks like in the book...

and here is my version...

now I used all vintage Debbie Mumm fabrics... boy Debbie did good Americana... some of these fabrics are at least 25 years old... heck most of them probably are...LOL... I added corner stones because they will  make it easier to keep the rows lined up and I love that fabric with the little blue stars...

the center gets a star and there will be stars for cornerstones in the border... and while the pattern calls for Ohio Stars I think I'm going to do sawtooth stars... I can't wait to get back to this cause right now I am really wanting to sew sew sew... there are a bunch of quilts I want to make... all of them easy peasy... but so many pretty fabrics to play with... my refresh of my sewing room and given my sewing mojo a kick in the pants... I'm really loving spending time down there... oh and Dan the handyman finished up the trim work in the shelf units last week.. it is amazing how a little bit of detail like that can make things look more finished and built in...

And speaking of fabrics I've been bitten by a new to me designer, Tilda... her fabrics are so pretty and very different from anything in my stash... I had this collection of FQs ... it is called Bird Pond...

and then I got this pack of FQs ... it is called Garden Life...

and then I saw this on Etsy and HAD TO HAVE IT... it is called Tiny Farm...

I have no idea what I'm going to make with these but I definitely have enough fabric for several quilts...

I do know I want to make a quilt for my bed out of them... something simple and easy that shows off the prints... I have one pattern in mind... this one called Picket Fence... you can see it here... I've made this quilt before with a layer cake of  Moda Regency fabrics... they are like Liberty lawns... I like this pattern because you have big blocks of the fabric and there is no border... I am particularly  fond of quilts that don't have borders...

As for working in the yard... I had a very productive Thursday... I put in about 6 hours outside... my son helped me plant the 5 window boxes... I have to get up on a ladder to reach 3 of them... and I planted 4 big pots and one big planter and put in some tubers and some quart sized perennials and annuals and planted some seeds...  I figure I've planted about a dozen flats of annuals and have a couple more to do... I need to clean up the daffodils, but they aren't quite ready... and I have lots more zinnia and cosmos seeds to put in the ground... I hesitated Thursday cause it was still chilly but I think it will be fine this week...and I want to get as much in the ground as I can because... THE CICADAS ARE COMING... THE CICADAS ARE COMING.... the Brood X that reappear every 17 years are ready to emerge... and with the predicted rain and then warmer temperatures I'm sure I'll be seeing them... ugh... I've only come across a few nymphs when I've been planting but I live in a old neighborhood... 1950's houses... and when they built these houses they put a tree in every single front yard. Now there aren't a lot of those old oaks left but I have a feeling there are a lot of cicadas in the ground....

And back to more pleasant thougths... here's a pic of one of the window boxes...

I planted geraniums and petunias and vinca in these... purples and pinks and white... I purposely tried to make them random as it seems that by mid July they start to fade... If that happens again then I can plug in some replacements that are also random... fingers crossed that this is a good strategy.

And here is a wider view of the side yard... I planted a ton of allium ... they are whimsical and they take your attention away from the withering daffodils... they remind me of lollipops... I've got a couple different varieties... the white ones were new to me this year...

Also in one of my many trips to the garden centers this last week a rose bush jumped into my cart and  followed me home... I know better than to get roses but I LOVE them and this one is a lovely peachy color  that had blooms like English roses... it is called At Last by Proven Winners... notice I said it HAD blooms and it HAD a ton of buds...  here's what it looked like when I brought it home...

I purposely put in in a pot and put the pot on casters so I could roll it into the garage at night because I know the deer love to eat them... but on Saturday night I forgot  and this is what I woke up to...

GRRRRRR... I've now set an alarm on my phone to go off every evening around 7:30pm so I don't forget to bring it in... and I'm going to put some of deer repellent around the base... I know it will rebloom but darn I detest those deer!!!

So that's what happened here in my week... this coming week looks less hectic than the last one... should be time to stitch and sew and garden... and sit on the sunroom porch... which I'm doing right now... oh I love love love my porch... so peaceful and relaxing... an aside about the pandemic... I've hated every minute of the restrictions and the changes to my life... my nice quiet life that gave me choices and freedom... however it has made me appreciate those things even more... and I'm grateful for every minute I can spend doing just what I want to do when I want to do it!!  I say my prayers every day that those of you who haven't yet gotten the chance to get back to your lives, get that opportunity very very soon.

I'll link up with Kathy's Quilts today... I plan to spend some time working in the yard and if the rain they are forecasting materializes I'll come inside and maybe work on that flag quilt ... I have plenty of things I want to do ...

Happy Mother's Day on this Slow Sunday...

Hello and Happy Mother's Day to all of you!!  I hope that you are enjoying your day... that you are honored and pampered and loved!!  I'm doing a mini- celebration today with my younger son and next Sunday I'll do another celebration with my older son... Life has gotten in the way of things but it is fine... today I plan on continuing my personal tradition of starting a new cross stitch piece... even though I have plenty of other things to work on... I've narrowed it down to 2 choices.. a patriotic piece or a Blackbird Design... can't go wrong either way.

For a week that had few obligations in it, it certainly flew by... and I did get a few things done... I decided on Monday to make the #bbdweekendsal a 3 day weekend... and then extended to 4 days as I was enjoying the stitching immensely... and here is how far I got...

I finished the No.2, The Light Upon the Lawn, except for some french knots and lazy daisy stitches which I'll add later... since I'm stitching this on a large piece of linen that will be manhandled quite a bit I wait till I'm at the end to add them so they don't get snagged. Then I figured out how much space I could leave between the pieces... only 4 stitches... and started No. 3 She Sights a Bird... this one may be my favorite because it has an alphabet and a cat... a LARGE cat... makes me shed a tear for Big Dude... gosh I miss that cat...  anyway... this was happy stitching and I did even put in a couple of threads on the stocking although now I have a split on the other side of my thumb... ugh...

As for sewing I was able to meet my self imposed goal of finishing my American Jane Simple Pleasures quilt... ta dah!!

And here are a couple of close ups...

Each of the big blocks is a 49 patch and in each block I did not repeat a fabric... there may be two fabrics of the same designs but they are different colorways... somehow this makes my OCD happy happy happy!!!

Now I thought I had enough fabric for a back but I was short and I did have an wide back in my stash that would have been okay... but then I saw a wide back on Hancock's of Paducah site that was perfect... here's a link to see it... a sort of mottled yellow with a random polka dot... I'm okay with waiting for it to arrive to send it off to be quilted.  Not sure what I'm going to start next... I have plenty of ideas and fabric...but don't know if I'll have a lot of time this upcoming week.

And I did succumb to purchasing a flat of annuals ... or 2... or 3 ... or maybe 7 or 8 flats... I lost count... LOL I did get 2 flats of marigolds in the ground and did a bit of weeding. I thought about planting up my window boxes but the weather hasn't been stellar... a bit on the cool side and several nights we've gotten down into the mid 30s... I may actually wait until May 15 (supposedly the last day we could get frost) to get anything else planted...

Oh and I did go ahead and plant up my pyramid of petunias... this year I have a total of 15 different varieties of petunias on this one little stand...

Now this is up against the house and it faces the east so it gets the morning sun... that protects it pretty well. I ended up going to about 5 different garden centers to get them all and still didn't get the one I really wanted... it is a Proven Winner called Latte... you can see it here... I never found it last year either but I had one the year before... it is my unicorn petunia... and I'll keep looking...

Here's some shots of what I've got now... I want to take a pic every two weeks or so and then I can see how they are growing...and yes the pyramid needs a new coat of paint....

Oh I have a bit of decorating to share too... this is that white shelf unit in my living room... I am so happy happy happy that I purchased this... it is a great piece to display things on...

On the top shelf I have a BBD Loose Feathers from the series Abcedarian... love the blue frame on that one... and Vintage Birds by Jeannette Douglas Designs...

below is Funky Bird by Barbara Ana Designs...

and on the bottom shelf is Gathering Basket, another BBD... I was surprised how many stitched bird pieces I have done... I love birds... and I love cross stitching ... so it is the perfect combination for me!   I like how this display is on the monochromatic side... blues/greens/turquoises... and just a pop of rose and yellow... I'm enjoying these displays and I think they will gradually slide into some more summery things at the end of the month... I won't do patriotic till July... at least that's my plan at the moment.

And speaking of plans, boy next week is full of them... somehow I have at least one and sometimes 2 appointments or obligations every day ... not sure how that happens ... I really like my life to be less scheduled... and I'm going to try hard to make the following week as unscheduled as possible.

So my plans for today are to stitch a bit and my handyman Dan is coming over for a couple of hours... I hope to get him to do the finishing work on the bookcases downstairs... drill some holes in a big planter  for the yard... hang a clock... and maybe even do the trim on a bump out shelf... it is suppose to rain all day so it will be good for inside work for both of us.

I hope that your day is a great one!!!   I'll link up with Kathy's Quilts and go see what everyone else is up to!

Minor injuries causing plans to change on a Slow Sunday...

Hello - so how was your week?  I had plans to work in my yard and spend some quality hours on the needlepoint stocking but none of that came about... minor injuries caused me to change my plans and that's okay... I'm happy with what I did get done...

First issue was my left knee was killing me... I have some arthritis  in it and I got a shot of cortisone back in December but it had worn off... and since I was trying to baby my knee my right hip was hurting too... ugh... broke down and called the doctor and they were able to get me in the same day for another shot...yeah!!!...  told me to go home, elevate and ice it and take it easy... I decided working in the yard was probably not a great idea... I have purchased about 3 flats of annuals... mostly marigolds and some snapdragons... I got conflicting info from the local weather guy and the national weather guy... local guy says chance of frost has passed... national weather guy keeps sending me text messages with frost advisories... so I'm erring on the side of caution and I haven't planted a single thing... next week is Mother's Day... should be okay after that ... and there is much much much more I want to buy... I've only gotten 2 of the fancy petunias and I want about a dozen more...

Then somehow I got a split/cut on the corner of my thumb... seems like no big deal... except every time I went to work on the stocking it would split open ... lots of tugging with this piece... however cross stitching doesn't put that pressure on my thumb so I picked back up the Prairie Schooler Garden Alphabet  No. 61... I started this one back in March or April of last year... at the time I started it I thought I could stitch a square a day and finish it up in a month... which I could have done... if I had actually stitched a square a day... oh well it is done now...

I used a 32 ct linen I found in my stash ... a nice soft yellow with a gold cast... used the called for DMC and added a purple for the eggplant and the violets...need to get this one, along with 2 other larger pieces I have finished off to the framer... I'll put that on my list for this upcoming week...

And I engaged in a bit of sewing... as I said last week, I picked up a layer cake of Songbook at my local quilt shop, Homegrown Homesewn... I really LOVE the colors in this collection... the rusty oranges and the olive greens and the turquoises, and while I don't gravitate to the navy blues I really like it in this  collection... I'm even okay with the gray too (and I usually toss any gray pieces) but the gray is more of a gray blue so I'm okay with it.  I found a great pattern on MSQS that only required one layer cake...no extra background... it is called Skylight and you can see the video here...

Now I did toss 2 of the 10" squares ... they were a tone on tone white and I thought they would just read too too light in this quilt... instead I subbed in 2 squares of olive green Grunge from my stash... I've very happy with the substitution..  and here's the top ...

now I was going to go back to HGHS and pick up some fabric for  a border but it turns out that the precuts are in stock but no one has any yardage yet... big sigh... I was gung ho to get this one finished... hopefully in a week or so I can get some more of this collection... I'm thinking the light tangerine... 3rd row up from the bottom, 3rd block in from the right ... for an inner border and then I haven't decided what color for the outer border but it will definitely be one of tossed leafy prints... navy??  turquoise??? not sure yet.

Soooo I switched my focus to a quilt that I started last year about this time... Simple Pleasures by Brenda Riddle which you can see here...   I put it away and I think I got again during the summer but it was banished to limbo in a plastic bin... I'm thinking third time is a charm... when I got it back out I realized I only needed two more 49 patch blocks and five more 9 patch blocks... yesterday I did one more 49 patch and three more 9 patches... the end is definitely in sight!!! Here's a messy shot... half on my design wall and half on the floor...

I want to get this one finished this week... I even found yardage for a pretty yellow back for it...you can see it peeking in the corner of this picture... it's time has come!!!

And I spent some time participating in the Blackbird Design Weekend Stitch Along on Instagram... you can see it here at this hashtag   #bbdweekendsal... it was the idea of Brenda and Laura of Brenda and the Serial Stitcher Flosstube fame... the idea is to spend some quality time with any Blackbird Design chart that you want... it could be a new start or an old project.. now I have plenty of pieces that fit into either category but I decided to go with one I started in 2017 and I'm not sure if it saw the light of day again till 2019 and now it has burst from it's plastic storage bag again... this is my start on the Loose Feather's series For the Birds...

there are nine charts in this series and I plan on doing them all on one GIANT piece of  32 ct linen that I painted... not sure why I put this away cause it is soooooo pretty... I LOVE the colors!!!  I'm happy with my progress ... almost have this complete...   I  still have to fill in the house and back stitch some vine-y stuff... some lazy daisies and some french knots.... this is chart #2, The Light Upon the Lawn...I may even be able to get some stitches in on chart # 3 - She Sights a Bird... it has a cute cat and an alphabet... it will go the left of this one. I've started n the middle at what will be the top and will work my way right and then left and then down.

Now I've seen version with a fancy dividing border between the 9 charts but I don't think my piece of linen is large enough to add it ... need to recalculate... but even if it doesn't get the dividing border it is still going to be a LARGE and lovely piece...

The plan is to have the first weekend of every month to be the #bbdweekendsal... that would be nice... this is definitely a long term project but if I stitched on it a bit every month or so it would keep it in my radar...

So I should have a bit more stitching time today... doing a birthday celebration for my younger son this afternoon... a carry out spread from Chipotle and some little individual pineapple upside down cakes from a local bakery... all I have to do it go pick up the food and take it to my older son's house ... where does the time go??  My younger son, my baby,  is 31 his birth was one of the most stressful days of my life...and I know that the birth of a child is always stressful but somehow we managed to cram in several over the top high stress situations within a  12 hour period... to start,  we bought a new car, we sold our house (we were being transferred from Ohio to California) and I had a premature baby with totally unanticipated major health issues... when I look back on it I wonder how I managed, but I did...things got very very messy with lawyers and doctors and me learning how to do  medical procedures I  had never known about... he has come a very long way... medical issues, developmental issues... we've seen a lot... it is so nice to be able to celebrate his birthday just the way he wants it.

I'll link up with Kathy's Quilts... always enjoy looking at what is posted there on Sundays... and if you want to see how far I get with this #bbdweekendsal just check out my IG @carolfun53 and I'll post an update there.

Hope the weather is improving where ever you are... we are getting nice temperatures and everything is leafing out and getting so green... now I need to bring on the flowers!!
