My entries for the Pooling Sock Yarn Challenge

So what have I been up to besides no good, well I've been knitting socks. Socks with fun pooling yarns. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE pooling sock yarn and I cannot get enough of it as my stash will attest to. Here are my entries for Judy L's Pooling Sock Yarn Challenge on the Patchwork Times blog.

This is the first pair I finished and this is my favorite pair of the trio. It is a Opal Antonia Hand Dyed Sock yarn. I love the colors in this skein and the amazing way they pooled.

The second pair I finished is another Opal Antonia Sock Hand Dyed yarn. I referred to these as the Transportation socks since that orange is the same shade as the double yellow line that they paint on the roads. Quite intense.

And this third pair is from the Schoppel Cat Prints Hand Dyed Collection of yarn. It said it would pool and while they started out pooling, they quickly turned into swirling and then after the heel turn they melted into mush. I like the color combo - raspberry and rose and the "S" that appeared by the cuffs is kinda cool.

All three pairs of these socks was knitted with 62 stitches using the same set of 2.75mm circular needles with the Magic Loop method - my favorite way to knit socks. And I swear I'm going to buy me a pair of Birkenstocks and wear my socks with them and show them off - LOL! My sons will soon refuse to be seen in public with me -- crazy lady!

As for my adventures in house renovation and marathon shopping - check back later and I'll give you an update. It has been quite the experience.

Don't forget to check out the other entries here. There are some gorgeous pooling yarn socks to see!
Happy knitting-

Another pooling sock yarn candidate

I took this picture last week before I cast on my next candidate in the Pooling Sock yarn challenge you can see here on Judy's blog the Patchwork Times. This is another Opal Antonia Hand Dyes - colorway 3170. They still have it here on WEBS. All the other colorways of this yarn have pooled and flashed wonderfully so I have high hopes for this one too.

Here's what it looked like before I wound. My son said they look like the colors you see on a road construction project. That orange is the color of the double yellow stripe down the middle of the road and there is a touch of that fluorescent green that outdoor workers are always sporting.  Maybe I'll call these my construction socks!

Check back on Friday. I have a lot of sitting around waiting time in my schedule this week so I should be able to make some good progress on this one.

Happy knitting!

Pooling Sock Yarn Challenge

Judy L over at Patchwork Times has put together a fun knitting challenge that I CAN NOT resist - pooling sock yarn! You can check out all the particulars here.

So last night I went rummaging through my stash and came up with these 3 candidates. (And as I sit here and type this I can think of 2 more skeins still buried in the storage room - oh well.)

The cake in the front with the needles stuck in it and the skein in the back are Opal Hand Dye from the Antonia line. I got them here at Webs. The one on the left is Schoppel Cat Print Hand Dye Collection. There are 2 separate disks which are suppose to give you matching pooling socks. I love the pooling part but will not make them matching when I knit this up. Decisions, decisions... which one to knit first???

And the winner is... this skein of Opal Antonia Hand Dye colorway 3172... why?? Because it is already wound in a cake and I think the purple and yellow in this one look Spring-y!

Per Judy's request I have photographed my choice in front of a calendar - my favorite Mary Engelbreit calender. I don't know if you can read what it says but the quote today is "I'm not confused, I'm just well mixed."  It is attributed to Robert Frost - who knew?  Anyway I'm going to cast these on tonight... and we will not dwell on the one, no two, no three, four, oh wait, there's another one, five, okay at least six single solitary socks that are awaiting the creation of a mate.

Happy stitching and knitting!
