Ta dah!!! Aren't these just tooooo stinking cute??? Adorable little cupcake ornaments!
I got the idea here by way of this great blog OnePrettyThing.
I had everything I needed to make these except the plastic snow, so it was killing me that one item was holding me up. They are more sparkly in real life but I didn't have great light today. Ok, I'm dating myself but as a child I remember little snowballs like this at Christmas time. They were vanilla ice cream rolled in coconut and there was a bit of cherry on top. They were frozen and as I remember came 4 to a box. I just loved them. They seemed so special and we only had them at Christmas time. They were frosty and elegant in my 8 year old mind. Does anyone else remember these?
I plan on giving these in a cute little bag to my quilty friends (sorry guys that I had to show them here first but since we aren't planning on doing a holiday dinner till after Christmas I couldn't wait that long - and don't worry I have another part to my gift that will be a surprise for you).
We had a very snowy day here, our second significant snow event of the season. Luckily I didn't have to go out in it. Hope you are nice and dry and warm where you are.
Happy stitching-

I not only remember the coconut snowballs, but I think I remember that you could get them at UDF. I too thought of them this year and want to check. I did find snowmen and Christmas trees, but they are not the same. Guess we have similar memories even though I am a little older!
ReplyDeleteThey are really stinkin' cute! Your friends are going to love them. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose cupcake ornies are super cute! I don't know about snowballs but I wish I did because they sound delicious. I love coconut!
ReplyDeleteI totally remember Snowballs! We used to get them delivered by the MilkMan - and yes it was in the very early 60's in suburban California before I ever saw snowballs. Thanks for the memory.

Those are soooooooooooo darn cute! Your friends are going to flip. Yes I remember the snowballs...they were always such a treat. Thanks for the memory!
ReplyDeleteThose are sooo cute! I love them! Thank you for the link. I have my final Christmas shopping to do today, maybe I'll pick up few supplies to make these!!!
ReplyDeleteSo totally adorable--and I love the tray you've perched them upon, too! :o
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!
ReplyDeleteThose ARE cute cupcakes! I'll have to check the blog out. I don't remember the frozen treats when I was a kid. Maybe they didn't have them on the West Coast???
ReplyDeleteThose ornaments are too cute! I have been trying to think of some ways to have a "crafty" tree next year and these seem to be easy and cute. I must make a mental note! Thanks for sharing.

While I don't recall the "Snowballs" I did purchase the items to make these. I had the snawballs on the sticks in a cup to dry and my husband said they look good enough to eat. So I guess they look original and I have enough "snow" on them. Lots of glue is the key to a good looking snowball. Will finish tonight. Thanks! They are adorable. Can't wait to see the mini ones since I'm doing the larger version.
