I can't think.....

of an interesting title for this. Actually I'm not thinking well at all. Okay I'm gonna whine here a little... I feel achy and my throat is scratchy and my eyes are watery. I'm hoping that resting up will make me feel better tomorrow - that and some vitamin C. I do have a sampler to show for Sunday, it is my newly framed BBD Home is Where My Heart Blooms.

I love how it stitched up. Thanks Myra for swapping me for this graph. I have wanted to do this sampler for so long and I am so happy on how it turned out. I've very pleased with this frame too.. the very outside edge is black, then there is the wide rusty burl center and the tiny inside edge has a gold finish.

When I got this home I noticed several things about this that totally escaped me when I was stitching. First, there is no alphabet on this piece - huh? is it still sampler if it doesn't have an alphabet? And when I looked closely I saw that the flower on the lower left isn't identical to the flower on the lower right. I would have checked the graph to see if it is charted this way or if this is my error, but I don't have it anymore. I was contacted by Nancy W (no blog) and she purchased it from me for the amount I swapped Myra for. I am very happy with this arrangement. I'm glad to see that someone else who loved this piece will also get a chance to stitch. The moral of this story is that you have nothing to lose by approaching a stitcher who has finished a piece and asking nicely if they are willing to swap or sell the graph. I think you'll find that you won't have to pay those outrageous prieces that are being asked for on ebay. Excuse the rant, I understand supply and demand but it still bothers me when I see an OOP graph selling for 4 or 5 or even 6 times more than it was originally priced at. I am happy to let a graph move on once I'm done with it.

Hope your week is happy and productive. I hope to feel more energetic tomorrow. I want to take some pics of my Fall quilts that I put out. It is nice to have a change of deocr and I love fall colors.

And thank you to everyone who left such lovely commments last week. I really appreciate them and I meant to send you all a little email but while the spirit was willing the achy body was weak. Hope you understand.

Happy stitching...

  2. It turned out simply fantastic! I can't wait to start mine. Thank you so much for selling me your graph. You don't know how I appreciate it. I have company coming tomorrow for 10 days and I, too, feel a cold coming on. It must be a Midwest thing. :) Hope you find the perfect spot to hang your picture!

  7. OH my gosh it is gorgeous! I really have to get mine framed soon. I am glad to hear you were able to pass the chart along, this one seems to be in great demand. Sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather, hope that changes soon.

  9. After growing up in a family of hoarders, I LOVE being able to pass things along to bless others. I think I'd hang onto only about one in ten of my charts as a "stitch again" contingency.

I'm not sure why some designers choose to allow their things to go OoP; I mean, I understand at large but not really for cross stitch. I admire designers like Homespun Elegance (I don't think Sandra has even one thing OoP!) and Prairie Schooler (recently heard about some, but by and large you can get stuff from the 90's no problem!)

Beautiful framing of WMHB. I would guess that the 2 flowers are not the same, and even if they are it's "personalization". ;)

Y'know, a couple of things that I REALLY feel have helped me out this early cold season are oil of oregano (planetary herbals brand in the dropper is the best I've tried), olive leaf capsules, and sinus rinse with the neti pot (I got the neilmed from walgreens).

Taking the OoO is quite an acrid experience (shoot a few drops in a tablespoon of EVOO), but I think it really helps. I've heard tales of it clearing up a cold in one dose.

The Neti helps me as I always seem to have seasonal allergies lead to postnasal drip that settles into the lungs as a cold and WILL NOT budge. So, it does an even better job of keeping the allergies at bay than the decongestant tabs ever did (and you don't have to show your id to buy it!)

  10. I love the sampler and I didn't notice that it didn't have an alphabet until you mentioned it. It's beautiful and the frames enhances it so well. I keep thinking I'm going to make a sampler but everytime I get ready. . . I find myself engrossed in another quilting project-ha! I also love the chicken quilt in your blog header, the colors are so bright and fun.

  11. Lovely sampler and I think it's wonderful that the pattern is being passed along to someone else. I try to pass along the ones I've finished if someone expresses and interest as well.
